Health in Action – Weight Management Service
Objectives:
- To enhance knowledge of weight management and strengthen self-management ability
- To support the development of regular home-based physical activity and healthy eating habits
Target Participants:
- Persons with BMI ≥ 23.0
- Persons who are able to participate in indoor activities without the use of walking aids, and are able to walk up and down one flight of stairs independently (16 steps)
Service Content:
- One-on-one assessment and physical activity advice
- Group exercise classes, with 2 to 3 sessions to be completed within 3 months, and healthy eating talks
- One-on-one healthy eating advice and priority access to designated centre activities
Not Suitable for the Following Persons:
- Persons aged 70 or above who do not regularly participate in physical activity and are unable to provide a medical certificate
- Persons who experience shortness of breath or unusual fatigue at rest, during daily activities, or during light physical activity
- Persons who experience chest pain or breathing difficulties during exercise
- Persons who often experience dizziness or are prone to falls
- Persons with cardiovascular or peripheral vascular disease, or persons who may only engage in physical activity as advised by a doctor
- Persons with musculoskeletal or joint problems that are aggravated by physical activity, or severe osteoporosis
- Persons currently receiving treatment for cancer, severe lung disease, or severe thyroid, liver or kidney disease
- Persons who have been advised by a doctor not to participate in physical fitness training or exercise
