Pain Management Programme

Eligibility:

  • Members of Islands District Health Centre Express and paired with family doctor
  • Individuals suffering from specific pain problems
  • Members who have never received pain management services at any District Health Centre or District Health Centre Express
  • Members who are not currently receiving treatment or services for low back pain or knee osteoarthritis from the Hospital Authority
Structured Pain Management

Standard service:

  • Service users are entitled to a maximum of 8 sessions of subsidized services (for low back pain or knee osteoarthritis conditions only). Services will be arranged as needed, including occupational therapy, Chinese medicine, physiotherapy, or dietetics. All sessions must be completed within 10 weeks from the date of service registration.
  • Occupational therapy and dietetic counselling services require a referral from a doctor. Chinese medicine services may require a referral from a doctor depending on the individual’s situation.
  • If condition has not improved after 10 sessions or 30 days from first treatment session (whichever is earlier), a referral letter from a registered medical practitioner must be obtained before treatment continues.

Value Added service:

  • Scope of applications: neck pain, shoulder pain, elbow pain, wrist and hand pain, hip pain or ankle and foot pain
  • Low back pain or knee osteoarthritis patients who have completed 8 subsidized sessions

Eligibility and service fee are subject to the latest guidelines issued by the Primary Healthcare Commission.

Font Size

After adopting the adaptive web design, you can easily change the font size to suit your personal needs.

Hotkey

If you browse Islands DHC Express (“DHC”) website on a desktop computer, a modern web browser will allow you to hold down the Ctrl key
(Command key on a Macintosh) and press the + or – key to increase or decrease the text size, and 0 to go back to the default size.

On a smartphone or a tablet, you can simply pinch open on the screen to zoom in (i.e. to enlarge) and pinch close to zoom out (i.e. to reduce) everything.

Menu

You may also change the text size from the menu. Choose from the following web browsers for specific instructions:

    • Chrome
      On the Page menu, select Zoom, then Larger.
    • Firefox
      On the View menu, select Zoom, then Zoom In. Or you may click on the Menu icon and select + or – to make the text size bigger or smaller.
    • Internet Explorer / Edge
      On the View menu, select Text Size, then Largest.
      Or you may click on the IE Settings icon, select Zoom, then choose a percentage or click Zoom In.
    • Opera
      On the View menu, select Zoom. Then choose a percentage.
    • Safari
      On the View menu, select Make Text Bigger.
