About Us
The Neighbourhood Advice-Action Council (NAAC) was established in 1968 as a non-profit charitable organization in Hong Kong. It is based on the spirit of “Any Place In Need Of Our Service Is Our Neighbourhood”. We uphold a collective responsibility to stimulate the exertion of self-help, mutual support, promote equity and justice and share for excellence in professional service delivery for the development of caring, respect and sharing society.
In 2021, NAAC operates more than 85 service units in Hong Kong, including Family and Child welfare service, Urban Hostel for single persons, Service for Ethnic Minorities, Day Creche, Nursery Service, Youth services, Overnight outreaching service for young night drifters, School social work, After-school care service Centre, District Elderly Community Center, Neighbourhood Elderly Center, Day Care Center, Elderly Support Service, Integrated Home Care Service, Integrated Discharge Support Programme for Elderly Patients, Care and Attention Home, Early Education and Training Center, Special Child Care Centre, Day Activity Center, Care and Attention Home for Severely Disabled Persons, Integrated Vocational Rehabilitation Services Centre, Hostels for the moderately/severely mentally/Physically handicapped persons, Supported hostels, Supported Employment Service, District support centers for persons with Disabilities, parent resource centers, etc.
The Food and Health Bureau has awarded a three-year service contract for the operation of Island District Health Centre Express to The Neighbourhood Advice-Action Council. The Islands District Health Centre Express has provided district-based primary healthcare services to residents or working individuals of Islands district from October 18, 2021.
To promote and enhance the awareness of self-management of health and support the chronic diseases client (e.g. Diabetes Mellitus, Hypertension, Low Back Pain and Osteoarthritis Knee pain) through three level of preventive program. Primary prevention services provide health promotion, diseases prevention, health assessment and consultation. Secondary prevention evaluates and understand personal health risks through health Risk Assessment to identify chronic diseases such as Hypertension or Diabetes Mellitus. Territory prevention provides patient Empowerment Programme for user with Hypertension / Diabetes Mellitus/ Low Back pain and Osteoarthritic Knee.
Islands DHC Express helps liaise and network service providers including Medical practitioners, Chinses Medicine Practitioners and allied health professional to form DHC Network. To enhance the accessibility of clients to DHC services, healthcare practitioners from nearby districts provide continuity health care to take prevent chronic diseases.
